'I-am-body' idea must vanish

The Dehatma Buddhi / I am the body idea must vanish...
So, then, is it not going to be a dull state, one of negation?
Would it not be positive to affirm God over negating through the 'Who am I?' path?
Is meditation not better than investigation?
Would not a scientific approach to the subject-matter give better results?
Would not a system of gradual elimination of mind and then the intellect and then the ego prove more effective?

All such questions receive the typical direction from Bhagavan Ramana:
a) The stand-point of the seeker is proved by the method the mind seeks.
b) There is no question of positive or negative as more important than the one who affirms or negates. It is to first 'find' that one.
c) Meditation implies mental imagery and is objective. Whereas investigation is to find Reality and is therefore subjective.
d) To eliminate the unreal and seek the real is 'Scientific'.
e) Mind, Intellect and ego are never apart from oneself. Even the Bible proclaims, "Be still and know that I am God".
"Stillness is the sole requisite for the Realisation of the Self as God" - Bhagavan Ramana
f) Understanding depends on ripeness or readiness of mind and hence there is no question of time or space involved.

So back we go to purifying the mind to be able to attain the poise for stillness and earnestness in seeking the Eternal Reality.
